Yes, Oreo and French Toast, two of sweet tooth's favorites are coming together, sparkling your brain's irresistible reward circuit.

Oreo Cookie French Toast with Nutella mascarpone and berry puree

I went to visit the cafe Half Cup on December last year. Specifically, I was craving for the instagrammbale Oreo Cookie French Toast. I don't have a strong sweet tooth ( Well, but I have a big appetite for everything sweet and calorie-rich), but Oreo definitely makes me reminisce about my childhood memories. Growing up, I am always a big snacker, and my mom used to put some chocolate waffles ( The ones sold in China) in my schoolbag. Obviously, I enjoy chocolates the most, and snacks with chocolate flavors are always tempting to me. I was already a chocoholic since kindergarten, the slightly unique girl who likes the semi-bitter taste of dark chocolate (My friends with similar age only ate white or mil chocolate at that time).

Obviously, for me, I like the chocolaty and crunchy Oreo biscuits but not the sweet and creamy filing. The biscuits themselves are particular high in cocoa content which highlights the richness of chocolate. So, when I found the menu of the Half Cup, the word "Oreo" immediately prompted me to try the French Toast.

They do not take bookings and there is always a queue, so make sure to get there early

The beautiful wall painting in the cafe.

Nestling near the King's Cross station and featuring a variety of savory and sweet dishes, Half Cup is a popular place for brunch, coffee and spending time with friends and family. It was a nippy rainy morning in London with the freezing wind howling and wailing through the busy traffic. I went there at 9 a.m., and there was already a few people waiting outside. Around 15 minutes later, I was welcomed by the staff. As I entered the cafe, I was immediately overwhelm by coziness and comfort as my face was gradually saturated with warmth.

Without hesitation, I ordered the Oreo Cookie French Toast as soon as I sat down, trying to subside the protest of growling stomach. Another wait but a wait full of expectation and

excitement.

The plating is visually appealing

Putting in front of me was this plate of happiness, two thick slices of golden brown French toasts stack together accompanied with berry puree, a dollop of Nutella-flavoured mascarpone, and more importantly, with an Oreo cookie adorably sitting on top of the toasts. Apparently, the plating itself was enough to boost your saliva secretion, and it was undoubtedly the favorite shooting scene for Instagram foodies. (I wish this can be my life-long job!)

The French toasts were freshly cooked with a slightly crunchy texture outside and a pillowy feeling when it touched your taste buds. The Oreo biscuit crumbs adds another layer of the taste to it, perfectly matching the rich and smooth mascarpone cheese. It was drizzled with syrup generously, immediately fueling and soothing my chilled body. Another oversized bite and a gulp of tea ( I was ravenous.), I felt the weather outside seems to be more delightful and my body was warmer and calmer.

I finished it, wiping my mouth cheerfully and feeling relieve by the new food baby in my tummy. I strolled again in the rainy morning in London, but with an energetic and bubbly spirit running through my whole body.

Unfortunately, it has been removed from the menu of the cafe when I was writing it. However, there are still many palatable dished served there and Half Cup is definitely considered one of the most well-liked cafes in King's Cross. It seems to me that the taste of the French toast still lingers on my tongue after so many months. Yes, Oreo and French toast, two of sweet tooth's favorites are the irresistible feast of your brain's reward circuit.
