These doughnuts literally drive your tastebuds nuts. No sugar crush, no overwhelming sweetness, just make you cannot stop licking fingers.


Vegan Matcha Sour-dough-nut from Pinkmans Bakery

If you mention doughnuts to me, I will just simply heave a sigh to you. Honestly, there are really good, but I do feel they sometimes give me an uncomfortable sugar shock. But let's admit it, life is just too short to restrict yourself from these sugar bombs. So when I found out the famous sour-dough-nut from Pinkmans Bakery, my first thought was :"Why not have one?"




I like being at open-kitchen cafe.

My visit to Pinkmans Bakery has made my one-day trip to Bristol massively memorable although the were shower and drizzle bothering on that day. The staff at front of house was very friendly who patiently answered my question and offered me lovely advice. It was always a hard time for me to decide when confronting variety of mouth-watering treats. Because I am a matcha lover, and I am always on my mission to find delicious matcha sweets. I eventually decided to try their new VEGAN sour-dough-nut which is surprisingly featured in matcha flavor.




It looked really adorable and instagrammable.


It was very soft and delicate when I was holding it, but at the same time, it was not light at all. A sugar-packed grenade. Placed on top of the doughnut was a matcha-flavoured biscuit, crispy and crunchy, perfectly brought me the delight of matcha. When I had my first bite, I felt the time froze. The dough was not thicker than a paper but it still remained a slight chewiness. What's more, I felt the cream started to ooze into my mouth, overwhelming me with exhilaration. Creamy, silky and luscious , the matcha cream filling hit the sweet spot on my tastebuds. Generous filling kept my endorphins thrashing around my body. Heavenly!



Every bite was dedicate and indulgent


When my tongue touched the gooey berry jam after a few small bites, I was on cloud nine. The jam was absolutely a surprise and it perfectly balanced the richness of the filling. Sucking, chewing, licking and exclaiming: "This is soooo delicious!". I have to lick my sugar-stained finger twice to really make myself satisfied from he sugary heaven.


Surprisingly, this actually tasted less sweeter than the doughnut I have tried in London (You may have guessed it right.). Also being vegan-friendly, I had no sugar crush which I have previously experienced when eating doughnut. The flavour kept lingering on my tongue when I was on my way back to London later in the evening. I may need to bring a mini fridge with me next time.
